"You are now Peter, the liar!"

Martin Luther wrote that when Jesus was on the cross, His Father was essentially saying to Him:

"You are now Peter, the liar; Paul, the persecutor; David, the adulterer; Adam, the disobedient; the thief on the cross. You, My Son, must pay for the world's iniquity” (Luther’s Commentary on Galatians).

And the Father did this for our salvation!!!

Thank you so much, Mr. Cruver! C.J. Mahaney's book, Christ our Mediator turned me to dwelling on 1 Timothy 2:5-6 last night. Thank you for reminding me again this morning of the great sacrifice of the Son on my behalf.

"The glory of the gospel is this: the One who we needed to be saved from is the One Who saved us." - Sproul

Hallelujiah, what a Savior!

PS...this is Jon Kopp. I was in your Junior Bible class at the Academy in 1999. Thank you for continuing your ministry in my life through your blog.

Thanks Dan fir the reminder of our all-sufficient Savior. I often find myself looking into a mirror when I read and think of David. It is amazing to be able to look past the sin and allow the beauty and grace of Jesus to embrace us all. Thanks again.

By the way, if you haven't heard it yet, even though it's been out for a few years, you should check out Andrew Peterson's last album "Love and Thunder." It has been very inspirational in my own songwriting recently.

The statement floods my mind with memories--one of them being a message on Psalm 23 which numbed my heart in silent awe--the truth that the Shepherd became a Lamb.
