Treasure Trove Thursday: The Lord of the Kingdom
My students are quick to learn that I enjoy all things Middle-Earth. Tolkien's mythological world is rich with redemptive themes. If I would let myself, I could use his writings to illustrate some aspect of the gospel every time I step into the classroom.  So, whenever I discover a blog that is dedicated to exploring the redemptive themes contained within J.R.R. Tolkien's writings, I'm hooked. I recently discovered such a blog. It's called The Lord of the Kingdom: Images of Biblical Character & Themes in the Writings of J.R.R. Tolkien. Check it out. There's a lot of interesting material.

Thanks for the link, Dan. I also wanted to let you know that you've been "promoted" from the clan of Faramir to the more general (but more lofty) list of Numenoreans.
This is based, not on your devotion to Ea and Arda, but on the fact that you are from Indiana, as am I. I grew up 150 miles down U.S. 41 in Terre Haute, a place only slightly more smelly than Gary (albeit perceptively so).
Let's see . . . Gollum, who was also known as Stinker, grew up in a town near a river; Terre Haute, which is known for its export of stink, is located on the eastern banks of the Wabash River.
Coincidence? Hardly. I think I went to high school with him.
I consider it a great honor to be promoted to the list of Numenoreans! Thank you!
re: your Gary and Gollum comments - LOL!
