We Know Not How, O Lord
I recently wrote these song lyrics. A musically gifted student of mine is writing the music.
We Know Not How, O Lord
Dan Cruver
We know not how to sing, O Lord
Our words have lost their way
Oh stir your song within our hearts
We’ve seen your glorious day
For us the cup you drank
We know not how to love, O Lord
So filled with self we cry
Lord Jesus, in your grace you came
You gave yourself to die
By you we have been loved
We know not how to pray, O Lord
Pressed hard by guilt within
But you for us do intercede
Fresh grace for us who sin
So at the cross we pray
Renewed afresh your glory seen
Transformed in heart and mind
We bow before your treasured cross
And there new life we find
The riches of your grace

I liked this verse since I was in your Hebrews class last year.
We know not how to pray, O Lord
Pressed hard by guilt within
But you for us do intercede
Fresh grace for us who sin
So at the cross we pray
I love it!
I like it. Great response song to a Call to Worship. Who is doing the music? Are they doing it hymn/congregational style or solo style?
Thanks, gentlemen. Jordan Huff is writing the music. We hope to sing it in chapel before the semester is over.
Dan - Let me introduce myself ... I am a BBS gradate, 1982, and currently oversee the North American operations for The Banner of Truth here in Carlisle, PA. I was given the address to your blog by several BBC/BBS visitors to our Banner office a few months ago, some professors, a student, etc. I was happily surprised to discover a group from Clarks Summit here at the Banner. I assume I was given your blog address because at least one of the visitors thought I should have some contact with you. So, greetings, brother! I would love to return to my alma mater some time, perhaps explore the possibility of having or expanding the Banner of Truth books in the bookstore even. We'll see. You mentioned the upcoming final chapel there at the school and the singing of this song ... when might that be?
Good to make your acquaintance, Dan.

praise God, that is really great. i hope Jordan does get it done so we can sing it in chapel before the end of the year.
Steve,
I'd love to meet you sometime. I remember a BBC administrator telling me about you. I'm also a big Banner book fan.
I'll let you know if/when the song is to be sung in chapel.
Dan
Hey Mr. Cruver, I hope you are having a great time in Carolina. I got to meet your dad yesterday. He is a great man of God. We (The Chambers) sang at his church for the Highschool chaple service. It was really a blessing.
Sounds good, Dan - I look forward to meeting you, as well. My schedule is a bit crazy through April and May, but definitely let me know when the song will be sung in chapel. Like I said, it's been a while since I've been back to Clarks Summit (seems like forever since I graduated from there!), but would like to do that even this semester, if possible. Attending a chapel would be great, if not the day the song is sung, perhaps another. On a related note, perhaps you, some staff, or some college and/or seminary students would be interested in attending the upcoming Banner of Truth Ministers' Conference, May 29-31, 2007. It relaly is a great few days of solid, expository preaching and great fellowship with men in ministry (it's a men's conference - pastors, elders, deacons, missionaries, seminary professors and students), as we live and eat all together on a college campus. There's more info on the right column of my blog, or I'd be happy to send you some brochures, if interested.
Anyway, let me know when it might be good for me to pay y'all a visit. Thanks, much, brother, and please greet others there from all of us here at The Banner of Truth!
Steve
