reflecting on life, death, and the resurrection

Since the graves of John Piper's parents are only 150 yards or so from my son Daniel's, I usually visit them after spending some time at my son's. Both grave sites provide the opportunity for me to think about life, death, and the resurrection. Here are a few pics I took two weeks ago.

Dan, you are a faithful husband and father, and it shows!
Good to see you again the other day.

One of my favorite passages of Scripture is I Corinthians 15: 51 - 58. There is a powerful association for me that actually comes from Handel's Messiah where the music piece starts with a trumpet sounding...and then the passage is passionately sung..."the trumpet shall sound...and the dead shall be raised...and we shall be changed...INCORRUPTABLE!" It moves into verse 55 which reads, "O death, where is thy sting, O grave where is thy victory"...and of course it closes with a phenomenal resounding chorus of voices preaching the Gospel to the listener..."but thanks be to God, who giveth us the victory, the victory, the victory, THE VICTORY through our Lord Jesus Christ!"

Welcome back to the area, Dan. We should get together some time to talk.

And dittos to what Bruce C. says!
