Blood and Glory

Scott Anderson recently produced a short film of some video footage that he's had for a couple years. It's his son Aiden pulling out his top-front tooth.

I love the music, the courage, and Aiden's blood dripping smile. This is where men are made. "Strength and honor." Awesome.

My "word cloud"

What do I talk about most on Eucatastrohpe? Snap Shirts tells you what it thinks with the “word cloud” image to the right. What’s a “word cloud?” you ask.

“A word cloud is a visual depiction of content (words) used in a body of text. The word clouds we use at snapshirts.com are arranged alphabetically and depict more frequently used words in progressively larger fonts.”

Noah, 2 1/2, is our youngest. I had the privilege of interviewing him last week.

me: "Noah, what does Superman do?"

Noah: "Ahh, Fly."

me: "What does Spiderman do?"

Noah: "Hmmm, Climb."

me: "What does Dash do?"

Noah: "Run fast."

me: "What does Buzz Lightyear do?"

Noah: "Fly."

me: "What does Woody do?"

Noah: "Pulls a string out of his back, 'There's a snake in my boot.'"

Go Woody!!!

*Pic of Noah was taken by agirlwithacamera. Thanks!

Time to close the LOTR poll. The results were, for the most part, what I expected. There were only two that I did not expect, namely, the number of votes that Legolas and Gollum received respectively. Take a look:

#1 - Aragorn: 80 votes
#2 - Gandalf - 49 votes
#3 - Frodo & Sam - 39 votes each
#4 - Gollum - 37 votes
#5 - Legolas - 28 votes

What do you think accounts for Gollum receiving more votes than Legolas? (Obviously, not many teenage women read this blog...) How is it that Gollum was only 2 votes outside of 3rd place. Why do you think a number of people considered Gollum to be one of their favorite LOTR characters? It can't be due to his looks or personality. Thoughts?

All of the poll results are below:

If you are interested in seeing how long you can avoid fast moving objects, you'll enjoy this simple game. The object of the game is to move the red block around without getting hit by the blue blocks or touching the black walls.

If you can go longer than 18 seconds you are phenomenal. A friend of mine was told that the US Air Force uses this for fighter pilots. They are expected to go for at least 2 minutes. Give it a try!! Click Below. That graphic on. the right is my highest score.

Fighter Pilot Training Game (who knows for sure? But it's still fun!)

A Town Called Today

It’s an add for an insurance company, but the theological implications are there. It is directed by the man who made the animated feature Triplets of Belleville.

Do you think I've illustrated one too many times from The Lord of the Rings? I caught a student of mine posting this picture on the bulletin board outside my office the day I returned from missing a day of teaching (make sure you read the words at the bottom of the pic).

the wonder of a bobble head!

| | Comments (3) | TrackBacks (0)

Eucatastrophe has received a significant amount of first time visitors the past few days. If you are curious as to why, it's not because of any articles I've written lately. It's not because people want to read my article about the Hypostatic Union and gospel-centered preaching. Nope. So what has generated such an increased interest in my blog? Answer: a bobble head. It’s not just any bobble head though…it is the Phil Johnson Bobble Head and it has become quite the rage. I know you will want to purchase one right away but hold off on that for a few more days. Why hold off? Because I’m hoping to get all eucatastrophe blog readers a discount since the bobble head idea originated here (note comment #10). So do your very best to hold off on purchasing one for a few more days.
